WA Primary Focussed Positive Education Forum

Your PESA WA Chapter is delighted to invite you to our first Professional Development Forum for 2019: Primary Focussed Positive Education

 Venue:              Loreto Primary School,  69 Webster St, Nedlands WA 

This workshop will provide a rich and engaging discussion about Positive Education through a Primary School lens.  This will be an interactive forum with excellent networking opportunities to meet other like-minded school professionals. Refreshments will be provided!

Featuring 3 presentations:

Kathryn Netherwood - Lance Holt School

Kathryn Netherwood, Coordinator, will share her Positive Education journey and that of the Lance Holt school thus far. Lance Holt School is an independent community school located in Fremantle that promotes the autonomy and agency of children.

Andrew Boxsell & Rebecca Barfoot - Loreto Nedlands

Andrew’s role at Loreto is the Health, Physical Education and Wellbeing co-ordinator. Rebecca Barfoot is Assistant Principal who is in large part responsible for the Junior School. They have been working together on the school’s wellbeing journey since 2017. Over that time they have formed staff and parent groups to share ideas and develop a whole school wellbeing policy which was rolled out in term 4, 2018. Wellbeing lessons have been included in the timetable for K-6. Although in its infancy, the school is confident it is moving in the right direction.

Rob Whirledge - Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School

Rob is in his third year as Head of Primary at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School, and a humble disciple of both Martin Seligman and Carol Dweck. Rob will speak on how Positive Education looks within the Primary School at BCGS, a decade after its introduction and implementation. He will involve the audience in a practical and engaging task that was enjoyed by Year 4 students earlier this term.
